Chapada Diamantina has hallucinating natural landscapes that surround some incredible plateaus which can be more than one thousand meters high. It is definitely one of the most paradisiacal places of the whole world and the perfect destination for the ones who love adventure: waterfalls of 340 meters, infinity of rivers crossing the mountains, caves and grottos, blue wells and cities that carry the rich history of diamonds and gold.
The Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina (Chapada Diamantina National Park) is the perfect scenery for the ones who want to have an adventure in one of the best places for trekking and observing the fantastic local fauna.
The beautiful Lençóis is the city gate to the park. The history of gold mining and diamonds is still there. Although it is a small town, there are hotels with complete structure, charming inns, and restaurants with local and international menus.
Be prepared to become breathless. The hiking through the Chapada Diamantina goes along huge valleys and mountains of up to 1.400 meters high and rivers where you can refresh yourself. During the tour, you can also lie down close to an edge of an abyss and see the whole region – the adventure is guaranteed!
The trekking goes along one of the most impressive places of Brazil. Go there with a good camera because you will come back with pictures of high waterfalls, beautiful caves and incredible blue wells.

Even with a drier weather, the Caatinga is one of the most beautiful and expressive Brazilian biomes. Its extraordinary twisted trees and vegetation: with bushes that are home for an incredible variety of animal species. During the rainy season, the scenery changes, with green leaves and flowers of different colors.
The Caatinga is so diverse that 327 species, including mammals and birds, only exist there. The vegetation is also important: there are almost 330 species that only grow there. The astonishing landscape has also many rivulets, perfect for bathing while trekking.
This kind of biome is only found in Brazil and occupies around 10% of the Brazilian territory. Because of the high biodiversity, the Caatinga is considered a rich genetic bank.
In this biome, that extends from the North of Minas Gerais up to the Northeast states, such as Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte, you can find Preás (little rodent also know as guinea pig), deers, armadillos, monkeys, and, if you’re lucky, the Ariranha-azul, a rare bird threatened with extinction.
