Maraú > Virtual Tour

The Maraú’s peninsule, on Costa do Dendê, is still being discovered by the tourists, but there are already well known resorts. The region is an incredible portion of land that goes to the sea, making from one side, paradisiacal beaches full of green natural pools and from the other side, the Baía de Camumu, a sanctuary of calm water. Perfect for your adventure.

Completely savage and with beautiful landscapes, it’s the perfect place for the ones who like almost deserted beaches and historic villages with traces of the Portuguese colonization.

The roads, still made of land, are perfect for off-road tracks, that take you to the most impressive sceneries of this part of Bahia. The beaches are completely deserted, the lagoons incredibly preserved and the exuberating fauna should be seen.

If you like trekking, you can walk through 40km of beaches, sandbanks, and preserved forest that goes along all the attractions of the peninsula. It’s a unique opportunity to visit one of the most spectacular places of Brazil.

A few hours from Ilhéus, the region is like a picture. It’s difficult to choose the most beautiful place. You will be easily impressed  with the green of the forest, the transparency of the natural pools of Taipús de Fora – considered one of the most beautiful beaches of the country – and the combination of colors made by the water and the sand of the Cassange  lake.

The Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest gives life to the Brazilian coast. The green forest surrounds perfectly the paradisiacal beaches of the Brazilian seaside. With many rivers and refreshing waterfalls, it’s one of the main attractions for practicing ecotourism in the country.

The vegetation is extremely rich, but the most impressive thing is the fauna. There you will find from the rare Micos-leões-dourados (golden lion tamarin), endangered specie of monkey, to the enigmatic Onças-pintadas (jaguar). It’s more than 1.3 million square meters of exuberating forest.

At some levels this biodiversity is considered one of the biggest of the world. The variety that goes along the country is enormous. You can see Jacarés-de-papo-amarelo(specie of alligator), Papagaio-de-cara-roxa (an exotic purple parrot) and also Botos-tucuxi(specie of Dolphin). During some research in Reserva Biológica Do Una, in the state of Bahia, North American researchers identified 450 different species of trees in only one hectare of forest.

Mata Atlântica, had a main role during the colonization of the country, and impressed the Portuguese that arrived here in 1500. Preserved even nowadays, this massive forest keeps in some parts, besides animals and plants, the rich history of Brazil.
