Historical patrimony since 1958, the city of Paraty, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, mixes perfectly historic constructions with beautiful and preserved beaches that impress anybody.
Localized close to Rio de Janeiro, it is full of houses from the Brazilian Colonial period, in the XVI century, but still preserves deserted places, like the beaches of Juatinga.
Walking through the historical Center – full of restaurants with the most varied cuisines and ateliers from many artists – is like turning back time.
The port, which in the past was the main place for discharging the gold from Minas Gerais, is today the main gate to green waters, islands and deserted beaches. With just one boat tour it’s possible to discover islands completely deserted, paradisiacal beaches and also get in contact with an authentic fishermen village, where there’s no electricity.
The scuba diving, famous because of the great visibility of its waters and the colorful marine life can be done really close to the city on boat tours. If you still want some more adventure, you can choose the tracks that go through beaches almost deserted, like the ones that go to Cajaíba and Sono beach.
The city is internationally known for the international fair of literature and for the production of cachaça, a popular Brazilian spirit.

The Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest gives life to the Brazilian coast. The green forest surrounds perfectly the paradisiacal beaches of the Brazilian seaside. With many rivers and refreshing waterfalls, it’s one of the main attractions for practicing ecotourism in the country.
The vegetation is extremely rich, but the most impressive thing is the fauna. There you will find from the rare Micos-leões-dourados (golden lion tamarin), endangered specie of monkey, to the enigmatic Onças-pintadas (jaguar). It’s more than 1.3 million square meters of exuberating forest.
At some levels this biodiversity is considered one of the biggest of the world. The variety that goes along the country is enormous. You can see Jacarés-de-papo-amarelo(specie of alligator), Papagaio-de-cara-roxa (an exotic purple parrot) and also Botos-tucuxi(specie of Dolphin). During some research in Reserva Biológica Do Una, in the state of Bahia, North American researchers identified 450 different species of trees in only one hectare of forest.
Mata Atlântica, had a main role during the colonization of the country, and impressed the Portuguese that arrived here in 1500. Preserved even nowadays, this massive forest keeps in some parts, besides animals and plants, the rich history of Brazil.
